Our clients from Boise, ID contracted us to design and build a small, no-permit required, cabin on their Shelton vacation property so they would have a landing and storage space when enjoying their property. We designed a 12x16 (192 SF) 4-season cabin with outdoor shower enclosure and covered front deck. This cabin is built on a custom pressure treated heavy timber post and pier foundation and is fully insulated to provide the ability to heat and cool the structure. The outdoor shower is portable and propane fired with water supplied by garden hose and drains through deck flooring onto a gravel drain bed, thus not needing a plumbing permit. The interior is finished with tongue and groove (TnG) beetle kill blue pine ceiling boards and tight knot TnG pine and shiplap wall boards, with 100% water proof vinyl plank flooring. The cabin is equipped with a small refrigerator nestled under a small countertop area for beverage preparation.
